Since 1991 AHEAD has provided working families in northern New Hampshire with access to safe, warm and affordable places to live, learn and grow.  Thanks in large part to friends like you, AHEAD's rental housing portfolio now includes over 290 apartments, and we have assisted over 500 families to purchase their first homes.

Still, the need continues to grow. Rent for an average two-bedroom apartment in the Littleton area has risen 20% in the past two years, even as local wages remain flat, and vacancies are few and far between. Three-bedroom and larger apartments are virtually impossible to find at any price. New home prices have skyrocketed beyond the reach of many low- and moderate-income working families. Now more than ever, AHEAD needs your help to address these critical community needs.

Supporters like you invest in us to help strengthen families and build the communities in which we live. Every dollar you contribute will help AHEAD strengthen our communities by bringing people home for years to come.

Words from AHEAD Supporters

"As an organization committed to lending for community development throughout New Hampshire, we look for partners who are daring, practical, visionary and deeply committed to improving their communities. AHEAD typifies all of these characteristics."
- Edith C. Crocker, Franconia
A long-time resident of Dover, MA, Edie and her late husband Julian moved to their Franconia vacation home permanently in 1989. The Franconia property has been in the family since 1902, and Edie has a great love for the region. A long-time supporter of the arts and educational organizations, Edie has been an enthusiastic AHEAD contributor since the beginning.

"It's wonderful what you're doing for the North Country. I love being able to support a local organization like AHEAD, where I can see the results with my own eyes and meet some of the people who benefit from my help."
- Linda Tase, Colebrook
Linda, a photographer and ski instructor, has lived in Colebrook since 1976. She and her husband Don have raised three children, now grown. A strong supporter of her local public library, Linda also volunteered her time and expertise for AHEAD on the Ely Street project in Littleton in 1994, chronicling in photographs the resurrection of a neighborhood eyesore.

"AHEAD is a terrific community development resource for northern New Hampshire. What they have accomplished with projects like Ammonoosuc Green is remarkable."
-Michael Lafontaine, Concord
Mike has been the Community Housing Project Director for the NH Community Loan Fund since 1989 and has watched and worked with AHEAD since its inception. With his help the Loan Fund has provided a wide variety of loans and technical assistance to AHEAD over the years.
